ADAC AUTOSLALOM YOUNGSTER CUP GERMAN FINALS

PHILIPP WALSDORF MAY BE THE YOUNGEST PARTICIPANT OF ADAC AUTOSLALOM YOUNGSTER CUP GERMAN FINALS IN WALLDORF AND GERMAN DMSJ CHAMPIONSHIP

On the last weekend in October 2016 the best German car slalom youngsters of all ADAC regional parts and DMSJ (German motorsports youth) met in Walldorf on a karting track to celebrate the ADAC finals and the DMSJ German championship. Philipp Walsdorf, being born in November 2000 could qualify as maybe the youngest between the competitors of this year in his first season in car slalom. But he was far from being slowest.
On Saturday the ADAC German finals took place in two classes, divided by the age of the competitors. There were 47 young people in each class driving on two quite new Opel Adam which showed some differences to the Renault Clio being the competition cars used in the Berlin-Brandenburg championship, so everyone had to find their way handling these differences. Philipp did not manage very well and hit three pylons in his first stint. After getting nine seconds penalty the driven time was not really important any more. In the second stint he showed much better performance and set the sixth best time of all competitors- On Sunday things took a better way for him. 85 youngsters took part in the German championship. The weather was sunny again and Philipp finished his first stint on position 17. In the second stint he decided to take some more attack which did not lead to success during the first half of the stint. In the second half he drove a little more defensive and ended without penalty again. Not really happy with the driven time he still managed to stay inside top twenty finishing on position nineteen.

The race got exciting again when a competitor left track driving through a fence. The Opel Corsa, which was the competition car of today took the situation quite relaxed, so it could be used by the following without any problem. Despite the delay the race could be finished before sunset which was really tight.

In the end Philipp took his way home with good feelings. For the next year Philipp announced to be back in the finals to improve. One can be curious.
