PHILIPP WALSDORF STEPS INTO THE INTERNATIONAL KARTING SCENE – 2017 DRIVING FOR HTP-KART TEAM

After having finished his first season in the Rotax Max Challenge together with Kart Team Timo Scheiderhaving set some remarkable points on position nine and second best rookie of the year Philipp was happy being invited to a test drive for HTP Kart Team on the Hunsrückring near the airport of Hahn, Germany. After the team around manager Christian Voss had to wait for the ice on the track to disappear Philipp took his place in the driver’s seat of the well prepared to him new kart. Up to this time he drove in a Tony Kart with Rotax Max Junior engine on Mojo tires so had to learn how to drive a Kosmic Kart with Iame X30 engine on Komet tires. On top of this new situation came the circumstance that the track was not easy to drive, because people who know Hanh will know that the sun leaves some shadow on parts of the track where the trees are in its way.

After getting to know the material during the first stint Philipp could increase his performance very fast being supported by the very professional team of HTP Kart Team and leave some positive impressions. “The engine delivers its performance much faster than the Rotax end the tires give much more possibilities. That is something I first have to get used to, but it is great fun driving this kart” Philipp said after the test. He was not totally satisfied with his own performance: “there is still some potential, I could have driven a bit faster in the end.”

The team instead was quite satisfied. Especially the way Philipp could transform the team`s information into speed on the track impressed. There is still a lot to do, but Philipp has got the potential.

In the meantime there was a meeting in the headquarters of HTM Motorsport to plan the further steps. For the season of 2017 Philipp will race in the Dutch Iame X30 Championship and the German Kart Masters. Further steps will be taken depending on the performance Philipp will show. Philipp and his family are very happy about this positive development. Triggered was this contact by the racedriver Roland Rehfeld, Berlin.

So Philipp enters the international stage of karting in the season of 2017. After four years in kart slalom and three years in a Rotax Max Junior he takes an important step on his way to professional motorsport.
